Clark Pettes Wigley Colonel (Ret), USAF December 15, 1951 - January 14, 2015

Clark Wigley went to be with the Lord on January 14, 2015. He was 63 years old. He was born in Lake Crystal, MN; his family moved to Marshall, MN in 1965 and he graduated from Marshall High School in 1970. He earned a BS degree from South Dakota State University in 1974 and was commissioned in the US Air Force. He entered active duty in 1975, serving for 27 years and attaining the rank of Colonel. Many of his assignments took him and his family to Europe; serving there for over 13 years. He was a Commander and a valued staff officer during his career, but very much loved the command assignments where he could mentor his air men and women. His final assignment was as the Professor of Aerospace Studies at North Dakota State University in Fargo. From that duty station he moved to Brunssum, The Netherlands where he served in a NATO civilian capacity as Deputy General Manager of NAPMA. He left that post in 2008 and returned to Texas where he and his wife settled in New Braunfels. He was working at Army North as a Joint Exercise Planner for General Dynamics Information Technology at the time of his death. Clark’s devotion to his Lord was most evident in the way he cherished and provided for his family. He was greatly loved, greatly admired and respected and will be greatly missed.

Clark is preceded in death by his parents, Morgan and Harriet Wigley. He is survived by his wife Beverly of New Braunfels; children Amanda (Matt) Laurich, granddaughters Sydney and Peyton of Polk City, IA and son Michael (Ellen) Sierra Vista, AZ; brother Jim (Eileen) of Apple Valley, MN and nephews Josh (Stacey) Wigley and Seth (Leah) Wigley of Rosemount and Eagan, MN respectively.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home. A visitation will be held at Tree of Life Church, 5513 I-35 in New Braunfels on Saturday, January 17 from 3:00-6:00pm. A celebration of Clark’s life will be held at the Church at 5:00pm on Sunday, January 18. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Fisher House, South Dakota State University Foundation (ROTC Leadership scholarship in Clark’s name) or the USO.
