Detlef,

Did you know Karl Weber and if so what has happened to him - meaning where he is now, etc.

BTW Karl was a RADAR Tech and took George Bishop's place in Stan/Eval when Bishop PCS'd back to the US. My last contact with Karl was 1992 while I was woking with at OC/ALC in charge of managing the mission crew flight manuals. Thanks in advance for any info.

Hi BH,

yes, I remember Karl. My last info os that he left the forces in 1998, but I will be on the legendary "Oktoberfest" in Hangar 2 next week. Let's see what I can find out. I will post the results here.

Cheers
Detlef

Hi!

I was at GK back in 1982 - 86. :) I worked in OWSD but was attached to Squadron 1 for flying. I remember Karl and Deiter and of course Norbert from the Training Centre. How are things back in GK?

Hi Chief,

I hope you are right out there. GK and especially SQ1 is doing well. SQ1 got a new patch. That marks a change to me - I fell that the good old times are over and gone. However, on the "Oktoberfest" in Hangar 2, I mentioned this page hundred times to animat the crew dogs to visit this page. So lets look out for them, hopefully they show up

Cheers
Detlef

I was at GK from the beginning. Got there in Oct 81 and helped setup the Training Centre. Went to Sq 1 right after it opened. Fond memories of Turkey and Norway and all points in between. Those were some great days! I lived in Heinsberg for the first year and then moved to Gangelt until we left in 1984. Squadron One was really a unique experience.

@ Boss Hawg

Karl is still in GK , working Test & Eval on Midterm, he did not leave the German Forces in 98.

Norbert R retired a few years ago but is still around the base.

Hope this helps :)

Lieber Detlef,

Hi Ickie!

My name is Bernd Kemper and I have been a Surveillance Operator at Sq.1 from 1994 - 2000.
I retired from the German Air Force as a TSgt in 2002.
On and off I am called to active duty in the Air Force (I am in the Air Force Reserve) as a Flight Safety Officer (assistant) at the 71st Fighter Wing at Wittmund.

After having gone through pilot training, I worked at Stuttgart Airport as a Airport Duty Officer and as of 2007 I have become an
Aviation Safety Inspector for a German Civil Aviation Authority.

Does anybody know the whereabouts of Chris Suckow (SSgt, Sq.1 , SO, German Air Force)?

By the way, I am in the very fortunate position to vist the NAB Geilenkirchen rather frequently...God I love the sight of a B707 getting airborne!

Godspeed
Happy landings, Bernd
