We need some fols to post to Aewa.Net. Try as I might I can't get this board going if people don't post. If you don't have anything to post then at least make some suggestions to me so I can act on them.

Okay, here's a post . . . it's not necessarily AWACS-related, but might be of interest.

I retired in 1997, having spent the last 16 of my 20 years in the military flying aboard the E-3. The last 2.5 years of my career were spent as an EWD, and my performance there was satisfactory . . . not outstanding, not in the least, but I did have a lot fun, kept it safe and did my job.

So after I retired, I still found myself with a strong desire to do some controlling. The only place to do that for me, is of course, in the world of computer simulation.

FYI, an excellent offline FAA-style ATC simulator is the ATCS2, you can get it at http://www.atcsimulator.com/. Its forum is located at http://www.atcsimtech.com/cgi-bin/YaBB/YaBB.cgi. So if there's anyone else out there that has a similar problem (the desire to control but no outlet for it), you may wish to check those out. It is apparently possible to use ATCS2 online as well, but that program is still in its infancy. The ATCS2 author is also developing a few companion products such as tower control, region control and scenario-building programs.

Also, another place to get involved with simulated FAA-style control is http://www.vatsim.net. There you will find good resources for both pilots and controllers to get setup with online involvement. I currently fly as a SimSouthwest B737 pilot, and with my new Dell computer, I look forward to starting to get involved with online controlling on VATSIM starting sometime in October.

Anyhew, this info is for anyone who is still interested in aviation but has no seeming outlet to enjoy that pursuit. It took me a while to become bold enough to transition past the offline flight simulation experience to the online stuff. But now that I've made that transition (since Feb 2004), I wonder what took me so long to do it!

Cheers!

Here is a post. Maybe not so much a post and more of a question.....

How come I am still considered a(n) FNG if I have been a member since 03?

Rob - The ratings are set by the number of posts. It only take 5 posts to become a "Veteran" amd no longer an FNG.
