William Terry Shaw CHARLOTTE - William Terry Shaw, Sr., 63, died Sunday, December 20, 2015, at Denton Regional Medical Center near his home in Denton, TX, surrounded by his family. Terry was born in Charlotte, NC to Andy and Shirley Shaw on October 5, 1952. He graduated from Freed Hardeman University and the University of South Carolina. Terry, a retired Captain, was a 27 year veteran of the United States Air Force where he proudly flew in AWACS as a Weapons Controller/Instructor. Terry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Deborah; his daughter, Shannon Stiltz (Bryan); his son Will Shaw, Jr., and his daughter, Emily Shaw; grandsons, Taylor Stiltz, Isaac Shaw and David Stiltz; mother, Shirley Shaw; brothers, Tom Shaw and Steve Shaw; sisters, Cindy Hare, Tina Hall and Trina Huneycutt, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Andy Shaw, grandparents Cora and Blease Shaw and Ruby and Clayton Watts, Sr. Terry enjoyed traveling, spending time at the beach, fishing, swimming, racquet ball and most of all spending time with family. A funeral service will be held at three o'clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 28th of December, 2015, at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227 with visitation held one hour prior to the service. An interment in Arlington National Cemetery will be held at a later date. Condolences may be offered at

Terry was one of my finest WD students! A great man and I consider him a friend. He will be missed.
